While racist remarks and stereotypes can stem from both prejudice and xenophobia, not all
come from mal-intent. As race relations becomes a more sensitive and prominent matter, it is
vital to stay informed. Rather than coming from ignorance, many times a lack of being
informed can unintentionally lead to making an insensitive remark. The United States, and
particularly Miami, is a melting pot of people of different ethnicities, racial backgrounds, and
religions. According to NBC News, 50% of Americans viewed racial relations to be in a poor
state in June 2015.
